And now we're at the heart of why you're here - roleplaying. Different sites have different requirements and expectations of their players; some are very strict, whilst others are extremely lax. We at WOA are striving for a balance between the two, and hopefully, this is it.
Q: I can have an Original Character, correct? A: Of course you can; in fact, since this is an original RP, that's all you can! There are only a few rules concerning this, however, so please, follow them! These should be common sense, but we'll spell it out anyway - [minus the obvious 'no-over-powered-characters' thing]. Here is what you CAN'T have on WOA:
Q: So, this site is a unique blend between medieval and modern. What exactly is allowed and what's not? A: Well, here's a general guideline for things:
Modern
Medieval
Q: So, character rips are OK, then! A: Hold on, we didn't say that. Please don't rip off a profile from, say, Wikipedia, or another forum. Plagiarism is illegal, not to mention extremely rude and uncreative. Try to make them as realistic as possible. Also, do not, absolutely DO NOT rip anything from another series, another plotline, etc.
Q: How do I create a character, then? A: Erm. From your imagination? Provided, of course that they fit into the universe that's created for this site, and that they follow forum rules.
Q: A bit off-topic, but what about homosexuality, or bisexuality in my characters? A: Homosexuality and bisexuality are A-OK. However, remember to keep everything PG-13 as per ProBoards ToS.
Q: What if I'm uncomfortable with homosexual or bisexual writings? A: Then don't read them. If you stumble across a post containing it, just skip over the rest of the post; homosexuality and bisexuality are a reality. They should not be censored just because some people might be uncomfortable with the concept. If you don't like it, don't read it, and you'll know which characters to avoid in the future should you accidentally read a post with a homosexual or bisexual character.
Q: Why don't I see a section for face claims? A: Because I don't feel it's necessary. Your appearance in your profile should be all anyone needs to know, but you may find a picture of someone that resembles your character and put it up. However, your icon and signature can be whatever you want it to be, and does not have to reflect your character.
Q: Can I roleplay in more the one place? A: For the moment, you can, yes. Just make sure that you don't accidentally have your character run into himself/herself.
